For the relaunch of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s site, I needed to build a Flash advertising module that would load content from the site’s CMS. The Flash needed to be lightweight enough for use on multiple pages and able to accomodate an infinite number of advertisements. It also had to support, image, video and SWF media types as ad content.

The resulting advertising module consumes an ASP.NET webservice that supplies ad content and loads the first ad item. In order to keep bandwidth at a minimum, subsequent ads are loaded on demand as users page between content. Individual content items listen for pane change events and start or stop based on their visibility.
